So I’ve now started treatment, and things are going pretty well! I will be periodically adding stuff to my shop that is already made and ready to ship. Basically, I will be in the shop here and there and since I can’t really commit to making things to order, this will be the only way to get stuff for probably the next few months. These will be sort of “special” stuff, using different leathers and trying to make some interesting, more unique pieces available. I will do my best to add new stuff every two weeks or so, mostly small knife rolls and probably some wallets.
To start it off, I’ve been trying out this tumbled cowhide over the last couple months, and I’ve sort of fallen in love. It is super thick, yet super soft with a distinctive pebble grain. I’ve got brown and black, just a couple rolls of each color available. The brown has a strap made of dark brown horween chromexcel, and the black rolls strap is made of heavy duty oil tanned cowhide. Makes a hell of a knife roll! These are available for $119 each, and have the same set up as my normal small roll, except that the black ones actually have an extra inch of overall width, and slightly roomier pockets. They will be available later today at jawleathergoods.com/shop. Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions! Also, keep your eyes peeled for other cool stuff, I’ll do my best to keep it interesting.
Help support me through my cancer treatments! Thanks so much to everyone who has sent kind and encouraging emails, you all rock!
Just because I never actually photograph black rolls when I make them, and seem to get asked for photos of them, I will go ahead and post this. Next one I make will be fully photographed and added to my shop! Feel free to email me with questions at email@example.com
make hand crafted leather knife rolls for chefs. This is a look into the process that goes into making the rolls. This is a (heavily edited) start to finish making of a knife roll. It starts after the leather is cut, as this would have made the video far too long. Enjoy! The rolls are made using Horween Chromexcel leathers, in black or brown and are available at JAWLeatherGoods.com. Please support small artisan craftsman instead of big companies peddling factory made garbage as “high-end” leather goods. You can find me on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/jawleathergoods, and subscribe to my blog at JAWLeather.wordpress.com. I also make a whole line of leather accessories including wallets, and bags. I also take custom orders! You can reach me at JAWLeatherGoods@gmail.com

Few new things in the JAW Leather Goods world, our small leather knife roll is now available in natural as stated before, theres a little nicer photo.
Also have some new card holders becoming available for purchase. Available in natural vegetable tanned calfskin for $39.00, and brown Chromexcel horsehide and natural calf pockets for $44.00. Hit me up through email, they will be in the shop soon, but not yet! Shoot me an email about custom stuff, always down for new stuff.
So a while back I took some photos to document the creation of some knife rolls, I typically make them one at a time, but this was a lot of ten total, six of them brown. This is a very abridged version of how they are made. I hope to have a very detailed “how its made” post soon, but this will have to suffice for now. Anyways, enjoy!
Three small and three large knife rolls completed.
All these pieces are cut by hand, one at a time. There are eight individual pieces cut out for each large sized knife roll. The buckles have been attached to the straps, and hand stitched to secure before machine stitching.
Every slot is measured and marked one at a time by hand.
A small knife roll getting its inside pocket sewn in. The thread gets backstitched three or four times, then the ends clicked and melted to keep them from unraveling.
Each knife roll gets a hell of a lot of work put into it, and I hope this helps you all appreciate the time taken to make sure everything is perfect. Enjoy the photos, I hope to do a step by step in depth process post soon, so stay tuned!
It’s been a while since I posted some knife roll photos. First, here is Chef Jensen Lorensen’s knife roll, which is the first JAW Leather Knife Roll ever made. Still looks great! He stopped by for a busted snap, and I got rid of the straps that go across the knives, as they really serve no function, and added a little strap at top for his scissors.
And here’s a group shot of some small rolls ready to ship out:
I will be taking some photos today of a brand new large knife roll, as there are a few new changes that I think make it the most functional and beautiful knife rolls available anywhere.
